Cabinet Cleaning

OK you just purchased and installed brand new cabinets. Well over the course of time they are going to get dirty. You will want to clean them properly so as not to damage the finish. Let us here at Cabinet Mart  help you. Here is a little bit of cleaning information on cabinet cleaning that can help you keep the clean and preserve them for many years to come.

  1. Spills: If you spill something on your cabinets, quickly clean them off with a mild soap and water. Wipe them dry with a clean soft cloth.
  2. Dusting: Keep your cabinets dusted often with a soft, lint free cloth. You can dampen the cloth with water or a simple spray type dust remover if necessary.
  3. Polishing: In order to keep your cabinets looks their best, we recommend that you clean and polish your cabinets at least once a year. Top them off by applying a coat of quality furniture polish.
  4. Thermafoil: It is best to occasionally clean this type of door by using a soft, damp cloth. For those tough, stubborn stains, We recommend dampening your cloth with a Simple Green or Formula 409 type of cleaning product.
  5. Mullion Glass Doors: Clean the glass portions with a commercial grade glass cleaner. The glass can either be removed for easier cleaning if it is necessary. If you do clean the glass while it mounted, take care not to damage the door’s finish or the hardware. The glass can easily be removed by taking the stripping out and sliding the glass out carefully. Its best not to spray glass cleaner directly onto the door or cabinet parts. The glass cleaner can seep into areas behind the glass, causing the wood to discolor. We suggest spaying the glass cleaner onto a soft lint-free cloth or paper towel and then gently cleaning the glass. Proper care and maintenance will ensure that you can enjoy your cabinets for years to come.
  6.  Never use Scotchbrite pads, steel wool or harsh detergents on your cabinets. These abrasive materials can scratch and damage a cabinet or doors finish. Its best to avoid using polishes or waxes that contain silicone. It can cause a waxy build up that is hard to clean off. As a result it will attract more dust.
